Aiming at at green mobility of the future, de-carbonisation of road transport is one of critical and thus priority tasks. As Balcans has in the past continually been a part of the problem and has been tipically and still today, lagging behind in overall development, we in Samit 100 are aiming at the prosperous Balkans of the future, becoming a part of solution and providing global break-through innovation. One of the break through projects could be Edison – Green Balcanica, aiming to electrify the region and introduce sharing philosophy in transport. The aim of the panel is to try to find the quantum leap for the region to overstep the setbacks and become the innovative and connected hub for Europe in either green mobility or any other electrifying growth potential opportunity.

Brief description of the panel topic:
Transport and interconnectivity are vital elements of regional cooperation and economic development. Region of SE Europe is lacking in development and stability also due to hindering transportation routes: for instance, it takes 12 hours to come from Skopje to Sarajevo, via road or air. There are different ways how to improve interconnectivity and traffic. Very effective method is acceleration of cargo along the SEE route, especially commercial and heavy duty vehicles with a process of swift border controls. Our aim is to enable free cargo flow without national borders stoppages/controls/custom clearance, by applying the valid related EU regulations for cargo. The vision of creating a ‘schengen-like’ region for transport would be possible with synchronized procedures and a support of an integrated IT system.
