Mušič Matej  – president of Students Council Doba Faculty, president Student Organization of Independent Higher Education Institutions of Slovenia

Born in 1961, I have dedicated my professional career to tourism and human resources management. Social capital is the area of my interest and I am trying to utilize it in managing the two companies Taktika Aktiv which covers the area of business travel and Taktika Aktiv which deals with effective  human resources management. When I reached another turning point in my life, I decided to re-engage in my academic studies, since today’s time of rapid advances and new technologies, changing society and the lack of emphasis on the actual power of  human resources requires, more than ever, monitoring and absolving new qualifications, skills, different views and approaches.

During my study, I have realized that in our society the readiness and  the willingness for lifelong learning is too low, so I have decided to participate in students’ project work on the preparation of new legislation, I have been elected the president of the Students’  Council at   Doba Faculty of Applied Business and Social Studies  in Maribor, Slovenia, an institution  which enables absolving knowledge  in a new and modern way even for students who have are fully occupied workday. In a month’s time I will be defending my Masters thesis dealing with seeking solutions to the conflict of interest among the stakeholders in the economy. And my academic career will not stop there.

In early 2016, I also became the president of the newly formed Student Organization of Independent Higher Education Institutions of Slovenia, I actively and constructively cooperate with the Ministry of Education and other stakeholders in the formulation of the new higher education legislation and the implementation of the EU guidelines on flexible, diversified and employment-oriented higher education system in the Republic of Slovenia.
