President of Mabetex Group and former President of the Republic of Kosovo
Behgjet Isa Pacolli , construction entrepreneur and politician, is a former President of the Republic of Kosovo and President and CEO of Mabetex Group, a Swiss-based construction and civil-engineering company.
In 1990 Mr. Pacolli founded Mabetex Project Management which eventually developed in a large business group now called the Mabetex Group with interests in insurance, media, and construction.
His international business projects included reconstruction and renovation of former Russian Federation Parliament, the Russian Opera House, State Duma and the Moscow Kremlin. In Kazahstan, Mabetex has built 40% of the buildings in the New Astana City including the new Presidential Palace.
Mr. Pacolli is one of the most prominent political figures in Kosovo. He is founder of the political party New Kosovo Alliance (AKR) and in 2011 he was elected President of Kosovo. He served also as the first Deputy Prime Minister, deputy in the Assembly of Kosovo and a member of the Committee for Budget and Finance. Mr Pacolli is founder of the Movement for the Albanian Economic Union, along with former Presidents of Albania, Rexhep Mejdani and Alfred Moisiu. His political career was a great asset for the state building and development of Kosovo.
Behgjet Pacolli is prominent philanthropist, donating for decades for education and students empowerment, social assistance for people in need, building houses for the poor and infrastructure projects as well as other contributions in the social and cultural life. He is founder of Foundation Behgjet Pacolli and of the American University in Kosovo AUK.
Mr. Pacolli has been awarded highest states and institutional awards and acknowledgments, among which Decorations of KPC, Acknowledgment from Foundation Nelson Mandela and Clinton Global Initiative, The highest Decoration of the Russian Federation , Award and honorary titles from the Rochester Institute of Technology, Peace Ambassador (Universal Peace Federation).
