Summit100 2015

  • The goal of the Summit100 is to demonstrate readiness and willingness of the business elite from Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia and Montenegro, as well as of the highest political officials from the region, to take their share of responsibility for creating a vision for strengthening the competitiveness of the national economies, but also of the overall competitiveness potential of Southeast Europe.
Summit100 business leaders, initiative started in 2011 on the annual meeting in Arandjelovac, is the first and unique event of this kind in the region. It is designed to be the first annual high-level regional business-government dialogue, to forge a strong, cohesive voice of future economic and business cooperation in the region. The Summit100’s goal this year is to once again demonstrate the determination of business leaders to take on their share of responsibility in creating the vision and defining terms for fortifying competitiveness of national economies but also competitive potential of the whole Southeastern Europe.
Last year’s Summit100 brought together top 100 business leaders in the region, more than 30 special guests from the most renowned international institutions, presidents of Serbia and Slovenia – Boris Tadić and Danilo Türk, and over 75 media representatives from around the region. The first tangible result of the Summit100 is foundation of the construction consortium Fenix in January 2012. Fenix has originally brought together more than 40 Serbian and Slovenian companies with the aim of cooperation and joint act on third markets. The initiators of this project are the Serbian PSP Farman and Slovenian Hidria. In May 2012, construction companies from Bosnia and Herzegovina have joined the Fenix.
In January 2012 the Managing Board of the Summit100 was formed, with the mission to coordinate tangible actions in order to implement agreements adopted in October 2011, in Arandjelovac. In order to ensure further political support for this initiative, the delegation of Summit100 organized meetings with the President of Slovenia Danilo Türk in November 2011, Serbian President Boris Tadić in January, President of Croatia Ivo Josipović in March, and Montenegrin President Filip Vujanović in May of this year.
The Managing Board of the Summit100 selected three key regional topics for this year: food as growth potential of the region, creative consortiums for entries on third markets and tackling human capital market at the regional level as a way of preventing “brain drain” in the region.
At the closing panel of the Summit100 business leaders shall present joint declaration to political officials from the region, in which they will communicate messages and expectations of business elite, in order to support joint efforts to establish a unified, competitive and prosperous market and better life for all citizens of the region.
